(Dis)continuity of German-US relations in the era of Donald Trump

The bachelor thesis focuses on German-American relations during the era of Donald Trump, i.e., during the campaign for the 2016 US presidential election and especially during the 45th US president's term in office. It addresses the question of how the relations in particular political sectors were changed, taking into account the history of the issues. The thesis is an empirical analysis. It aims to confirm or refute the hypothesis that states continued in their military cooperation, despite the political break-up. Furthermore, it aims to prove that bad political relations had little to no effect on cooperation between the militaries of the countries. Deteriorating relations between the US and Germany were not an exception in the Euro-Atlantic region. There was a deterioration in the relations between most Western European states and the US. However, it was not as serious as in the case of the US and Germany. The relationship between Germany and the US has probably experienced the biggest rift since the beginning of modern relations between the states, i.e., since 1949. The political rift was mutual, as Germany was one of Trump's main targets of criticism. (Non)cultural Czechia alias political culture during the pandemic

The bachelor thesis "(Non) cultural Czech alias political culture during the pandemic" deals with the political culture in the Czech Republic during the covid-19 pandemic in the period between 13th of March 2020, and 17th of December 2020. The first theoretical part deals with the interpretation of the very concept of political culture in the academic literature, but also, for example, in newspaper articles or other sources. In this respect, the author categorizes the individual definitions and approaches into a clear classification, of which one conceptualization is used in the research itself. In the second, i.e. practical part, using the materials created in the theoretical part, the work seeks to identify the level of the political culture of political representatives, more precisely members of the government, in the Czech Republic. It examines whether or not they have breached anti-epidemic measures during the specified period, and if they have, it further analyses them. This work builds on longer-term research in political culture, but also tries to bring knowledge from the new situation, the pandemic of covid-19, which is a completely unprecedented event for the 21st century.

The Political Culture of the Presidential Elections in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the political culture of the presidential elections in the Czech Republic. Its main aim is to compare the state of the political culture in 1993 and 2008 in the Czech Republic in connection with the presidential elections. The study employs analytical and comparative methods. The thesis tests the validity of the hypothesis that the civil maturity of the politicians grows with the duration of the democracy.

Shrinking Space? Civil Society Organizations in the Contemporary Republic of Moldova

The thesis deals with the topic of operating space for civil society organizations in the Republic of Moldova during the period from March 2017 to February 2019. The main aim of the thesis was to determine whether the case of Moldova corresponded to the concept of shrinking space for civil society defined by Saskia Brechenmacher in her paper Civil Society under Assault in 2017. Shrinking or closing space, which occurs more and more frequently in different countries throughout the world, can be defined on the basis of three main areas: tactics, impact and international reaction. The operational space for the civil sector in the Republic of Moldova differed from Brechenmacher's concept partially in the areas of tactics and international reaction and more significantly in the area of impact due to fact that that the restrictive legislation remained in the phase of a bill. As Brechenmacher's concept does not cover all aspects of operating space in Moldova, a supplementary chapter has been added. The main difference from Brechenmacher's concept was the aspect of "simulated collaboration". State officials pretended that the civil society was involved in the decision-making process, but in fact they ignored its views.

Interest Groups, Lobbying and its Regulation in the Czech Republic

Diploma thesis "Interest Groups, lobbying and it's regulation in the Czech Republic" deals with the phenomenon of lobbying and it's role in democratic political processes. First part of this thesis is aimed at political theories of interest groups, various definitions of lobbying and methods of regulating lobbyists. The second part containes a comparison of lobbying regulations in various western states. The third part containes an analysis of the present state of lobbying regulation in the Czech Republic. In the final fourth part, certain methods of lobbying regulation are proposed to take place in the Czech Republic and scrutinized for compliance with the oppinion of Czech political elites and professional lobbyists.

The fight for Reich's school law amendment in 1883 and the response in Czech press at the time

This thesis handles with the events concerning the school law amendment from 1883. It is well known that it was considerably controversial as well as regressive school policy in the Austrian Empire. This policy was aggressively fought over. One of the most prominent characters of the fights was František Tilšer - the only czech member of parliament that didn't vote for the reform. He became the target of incendiary press campaign. This thesis will briefly introduce the legislative developments of school law since the beginning of compulsory school attendance up until the aforementioned amendment. The core of this work lies in analysis of the given problematics in Czech and German period press. The text analysis deals with papers that present wide range of opinions: Národní listy, Politik, Bohemia and Čech. The thesis is thus a probe of political culture of the second part of the 19. century in the Habsburg monarchy as well. Political song and political culture - Karel Kryl and his work

This bachelor thesis is focused on songs, texts and main topics which are included in works of Czechoslovakian songwriter, lyricist and poet Karel Kryl from 1968 to 1994. The first part is a theoretical frame which shows us existing background in political science concerning political songs, culture of protest, political culture and political communication. The second part is a reflection of possibility of political songs influence on society and it also reflects topics in historical context. This work gives us answers what is the role of political songs and their authors in the scheme of political communication, what contribute to the possibility to have an influence on political culture and what is the typical attribute of political song.

Political Culture in Narratives

Political culture in narratives Abstract Thesis "Political culture in narratives" aims on the phenomenom of Political culture as was defined by Almond and Verba. Base of this thesis are researches on Political culture by Almond and Verba and other authors who done researches on this topic including political culture researches done within context in the Czech Republic. The research in this thesis is based on ten semi-structured qualitative interviews with informants, who grew up during the communist era in former Czechoslovakia. Interviews aimed on informants' experiences during the communism era, Velvet revolution, economic transformation and present day. Informants evaluates their understanding of political situation during mentioned eras, their political activity and their life situation. Thases aims on behalf of this data to discover how growing up during communist era, Velvet revolution and economical transformation influenced informants' political attitudes and how it influenced their political culture. It was discovered that during the communsit era subject political culture dominated. This changed right after Velvet revolution, when participant attitudes dominated. After the series of dissapointments in political situation during the economic transformation, informants showed anomic attitudes...
